Mortlach Special Release 2022, "The Lure of the Blood Moon", a limited edition from the legendary Dufftown distillery, famously known as "The Beast of Dufftown". Part of Diageo's annual Special Releases, highly sought after by collectors.
Bottled at natural cask strength and finished in a combination of Tawny Port, Red Muscat and Virgin Oak casks. The result pairs Mortlach's signature meaty, robust character with rich wine and sweet grape notes and a gingery spice from the virgin oak. Official description: "Dark, sweet, ruby richness entwined with gingery depth."
Mortlach's unique distillation process, 2.81 times in six stills arranged in a pattern found nowhere else, gives this whisky its distinctive depth.
