Refined and elegant service consisting of 6 antique goblets, datable to the second half of the 19th century (circa 1860), in the midst of the Victorian / Napoleon III period. The goblets bear witness to the high craftsmanship of the historic European crystal factories of the time (stylistically akin to Baccarat and Saint-Louis productions). Each piece is made of crystal (or very fine blown glass) mouth-blown. The cup, with the classic truncated egg shape, is embellished with a meticulous and rich decoration of floral garlands, vegetal motifs and arabesques executed with the refined acid-etching technique (aquaforte), which affords opacity and depth to the design. The stem is elegantly baluster-shaped, characterized by a central knot/ring that eases grip, and rests on a regular circular base. The manufacture is entirely handmade, underscored by minimal and imperceptible differences in weight and thickness between one goblet and another, a distinctive sign of true mouth-blown work.
