Description from the seller

Product Description
This work is a matcha bowl (chawan) created in reference to the chokudai (the theme for the Imperial New Year's Poetry Reading, Utakai Hajime) "Bridge." "Bridge" is the designated theme for the Imperial court poetry gathering set each year, and has frequently been incorporated into the design of tea utensils.

The body features a large fan-shaped (ōgimen) motif rendered in gold pigment and polychrome overglaze enamels (uwae-tsuke), adorned with a lattice pattern, swirling wave designs, and small floral roundels (hanamarumon). The reverse of the vessel is separately decorated with a swirling motif in gold pigment. The interior (mitsugomi) and the area around the foot ring (kōdai) are finished in a warm cream-colored glaze, with a natural reddish blush suffusing the area near the foot ring; within the foot ring, a small seal reading "Keiun" has been impressed.

This work comes with a tomobako (a wooden box with a matching lid), and has been stored in a storehouse for a long time. It has never been used since it was purchased new.

Condition
As the item has not been used since purchase, it is in very fine condition. Upon visual inspection, no chips, cracks, or signs of repair were found. The reddish blush in the glaze near the foot ring and other variations in kiln effects (yōhen) and color development are a natural part of the finish from the time of production, and do not constitute damage.
