Description from the seller
ARCA LUDENS (2026) - Mixed media on canvas — pigment inkjet print, brush-on varnish applied by hand · Digital painting · Hand-signed · 2026
Four masked children stand in a flowered meadow, facing a wooden arch placed distant on the horizon line. On the left, a girl in a red skirt holds a large gray wolf mask with a toothed jaw; the other three wear yellow bird masks with red crests.
The very expansive composition makes them look small in a desolate landscape, and the path leading to the arch is already traced in the grass. They are looking, not walking. It is this offset — the boat ready, the children motionless — that governs the whole canvas.
Impasto-like sky, blue and white swirled in broad movements; meadow built with short green and yellow brushstrokes dotted with small flowers; masks worked in textured, grainy paper surfaces that contrast with the precision of the arms and legs.
Technique: mixed media — pigment-ink print, brush-on varnish applied by hand, for the durable protection of the work.
Support: premium canvas stretched on a wooden frame, ready to hang.
Format: 40x60 cm
Signed ARCA LUDENS · Galerie Labo Joconde / Atelier Joconde · certificate of authenticity provided.
ARCA LUDENS is one of the creations bringing together artists Le Yack, Neo Pablo and Popsan within Atelier Joconde, a family studio where three sensibilities coexist: neo-realism, pop, and free figuration. Under the name ARCA LUDENS, the Studio revisits the flood at child height, in the tradition of magical realism and Nordic genre painting: heavy skies, flat prairies, papier-mâché animal masks, and an ambiguous fable where play and threat no longer distinguish themselves.
Each work is a unique piece.
