Description from the seller
Title: "RUBY RITUAL"
Oil painting on extremely fine-grained canvas
Frameless
Dimensions: 30 x 40 cm
Year: 2026
With certificate of authenticity
Fully painted profiles plus a hook make the work ready to hang.
A composition built around the visual impact of red, where the cocktail becomes luminous matter and the crystal amplifies its depth, reflections and transparencies. Fruits, leaves and citrus introduce natural and chromatic accents, creating a balance between opulence and restraint. Side lighting sculpts every surface and transforms the glass into an almost precious element, while the dark background enhances the piece’s chromatic density. A contemporary interpretation of the ritual of the aperitif, suspended between realism and atmosphere.
Sandra Chinelate, Brazilian, works on the physical and existential inquiry conducted with the tools of figurative painting. A humanities graduate, and as a child a self-taught artist, she moved to Italy and, influenced by her multifaceted sociolinguistic view, conducts her painting research with the aim of promoting a meeting between different social subjects, where various ages, skin colors, passions and human ambiguities are contemplated from a strong artist’s wish to exalt their facets, safeguarding her subjects from any pre-judgment. She dedicates equal fervor to the search for detail, light, and perspective in her beloved hyperrealism technique, in which she has specialized since her earliest artistic experiments. Since 2005 she has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows. She works with oil and mixed media on canvas and panel.
For the catalogue of one of her most important solo exhibitions, she was reviewed by the Romani art critic Lea Mattarella, whose review ends with: "and if there is pain, if there is weariness, Chinelate makes the words of Rumi, the medieval Sufi poet, her own, convinced that 'the wound is the place where the light enters you'". This principle Sandra Chinelate applies to the human soul she depicts as to objects, all in equal importance and order.
