Description from the seller
A classic Oribe-style matcha bowl, hand-molded with a rustic, organic form that epitomizes the Japanese aesthetic of *wabi-sabi*.
The creamy-white body is covered in a natural "ice-crack" (crazing) pattern. The rim is finished with characteristic Oribe green glaze, which runs naturally to form distinct droplets, creating a vivid sense of fluidity. The exterior features hand-painted brown scrolling motifs executed with free, expressive brushwork.
The base bears the artist's kiln mark. The piece comes with its original paulownia wood box, which features calligraphy and a red seal on the lid; the entire set is well-preserved.
With its substantial weight and satisfying feel in the hand, this bowl is suitable for use in the tea ceremony or as a display piece for collectors; as an antique tea vessel, it bears the natural signs of aging acquired over time.
