Generally good condition. Normal and slight signs of aging on the painting surface consistent with the period. Canvas well stretched on the original frame.
Conservation-type restoration carried out at a Palermo studio.
Dimensions: 60 x 38 cm; approximately 45 x 25 cm unframed.
The painting depicts an interior scene of an intimate, academic character. The work portrays a young woman, a cultured painter seen in profile, seated in the artist's studio and focused before her easel, with warm tonalities and intense chiaroscuro that recall the poetic interior scenes of the Neapolitan school.
Provenance: Purchased at the historic auction house Galleria Sarno (Palermo).
On the back of the antique wooden frame is the original paper inventory/lot label.
The work is presented with its splendid contemporary gilded wooden frame, intricately worked, which shows a pleasant patina of time. The frame is included in the lot at no extra cost.
