Jim Marshall (1936–2010) was an American photographer and photojournalist regarded as one of the pioneers and the godfather of rock 'n' roll photography. Armed with his trusted Leica bodies, he captured the golden age of 1960s and 1970s music. His reputation rests on a strict philosophy: to earn the absolute trust of his subjects in order to gain exclusive and intimate backstage access, never staging his photos.
