8vo (publisher’s cloth binding). Full red percaline of the type with the initials. First board adorned with a rich gilded geometric and floral border, with two central medallions (initials JV and H) and the title in gilded letters in an oval central medallion.
Second board plain percaline with a circular, gilt-stamped central floral motif.
Spine smooth, richly gilded with compartments and the title. Gilt edges.
Work illustrated with original drawings by A. de Neuville and L. Benett, wood-engraved.
Very beautiful overall condition, percaline with deep, uniform tones; the golds bright and clean on the upper board and spine. Corners and crowns in good condition.
Clean and well preserved, original endpapers clean, complete with its in- and out-of-text illustrations after De Neuville and Benett.
Very fine copy.
