Description from the seller

Exceptionally detailed antique bronze sculpture, depicting a snake charmer with a cobra on his arm.

This impressive statue was created in the second half of the 19th century by the French sculptor Eugène Marioton (1857–1933), who is known for his finely wrought figures and Orientalist depictions.

The scene depicts an almost mystical connection between man and snake, while at the same time evoking the intriguing duality of attraction and danger.

The young man is dressed in traditional clothing and enchants the snake with his movements. His stance is both dynamic and elegant. Confidently he raises his arm and leads the reptile, which coils gracefully around his arm.

The sculpture is beautifully executed and is in perfect condition.

Dimensions: 52 cm high × 26 cm wide × 20 cm deep.
