The grape has a handsome globular body, a wide protruding upper rim, and two distinctive angular ears. Notably, there are three cast feet that end in stylized animal or claw feet.
Grape were formerly used as a cooking pot over an open fire. Thanks to the three legs, the pot could be placed stably between or above the glowing embers. The ears were used for handling the pot and could, in some versions, also be combined with a handle.

De grape heeft een fraai bolvormig lichaam, een brede uitstaande bovenrand en twee karakteristieke hoekige oren. Bijzonder zijn de drie gegoten poten die eindigen in gestileerde dieren- of klauwpoten.
Grapes werden vroeger gebruikt als kookpot bij het open vuur. Dankzij de drie poten kon de pot stabiel tussen of boven de gloeiende kolen worden geplaatst. De oren dienden voor het hanteren van de pot en konden bij sommige uitvoeringen tevens met een hengsel worden gecombineerd.
