Gerhard Richter - ATLAS - 1990s

Rare artist's poster by Gerhard Richter for his ATLAS exhibition at the Cologne Museum Ludwig in 1990. It was designed by Richter in every detail—see the catalogue raisonné by Butin, p. 217. The motif is based on mounted photographs from the Atlas.

The “Atlas” resembles a gigantic pinboard. Since 1967, Gerhard Richter has been pasting photos, newspaper clippings, and sketches, thematically organized, onto cardboard panels. As a “work in progress,” the Atlas is both a source material and a work of art.

Offset lithography on poster paper - 83.5 x 59.3 cm. Original shipping fold. Very good copy with no spots or tears. It will be shipped rolled in a sturdy cardboard.
