Biographical notes about the Artist
Dino Lanaro (Schio, 1909 – Milan, 1998) was one of the most authoritative, rigorous, and coherent figures of Italian painting in the twentieth century.

Having begun art at a very young age through chromatic drawing and lithography, he debuted in the 1920s and moved to Milan in 1937. Here he came into close contact with young intellectuals and artists who, in 1939, would give life to the famous Movement of "Corrente", participating in the group’s historic exhibitions at the Via della Spiga gallery under the aegis of Renato Birolli.

His exhibition and institutional career is outstanding: he participated in numerous editions of the Venice Biennale (1948, 1950, 1956) and the Rome Quadriennale (from 1948 to 1965), as well as the Alexandria Biennale in Egypt. He received important national recognitions, including the Bellagio Prize, the Gallarate Prize, and the prestigious City of Lugano Prize in 1961. Alongside painting, he carried out an intense and fundamental academic activity: from 1950 to 1979 he held the Chair of Painting at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. His works are preserved in important museums and public collections, such as the Art Collections of the Cariplo Foundation and the Gallarate Art Museum.
