Description
Elegant vintage fireplace companion set in brass, featuring beautifully decorated genuine mother-of-pearl (nacre) mosaic handles.
This attractive fireside set consists of three matching fireplace tools together with their original freestanding brass stand.
The most distinctive feature of this set is the decoration of the handles. Each handle is covered with individually fitted pieces of genuine mother-of-pearl (nacre) arranged in a geometric mosaic. The natural nacre displays attractive iridescent reflections in white, cream, silver and subtle blue, green and pink tones, particularly visible under direct light.
The handles are complemented by finely decorated brass collars, bead detailing and spherical finials. The same decorative style is continued on the stand, giving the surviving pieces a very cohesive appearance.
The set originally appears to have consisted of four fireplace tools. The fire poker is missing, while the shovel, tongs and brush remain together with the matching stand.
