Description from the seller
King of Scots (Rare 25-Year-Old Scotch Whisky).
Bottler / Parent Company: Douglas Laing & Co., a historic and highly respected independent bottler and blender founded in Glasgow in 1948 by Fred Douglas Laing.
History and Trivia:
The King of Scots brand was originally created in 1886 and is one of the historic blends of the Scottish tradition.
The name and emblem on the bottle evoke the Lion Rampant, the royal heraldic crest used by the Kings of Scotland for centuries.
As a 25-year-old blended whisky, it contains a mix of malt and grain whiskies from historic Scottish distilleries, each aged for at least 25 years in oak casks before being blended by Douglas Laing's Master Blender.
The packaging features a crafted ceramic decanter (produced in various finishes such as plum/black cherry brown, Spode-style, or gold) designed for the prestige edition market.
Production and Bottling Year
Bottling era: 1980s / early 1990s.
Dating details: The dark ceramic decanter design with gold lettering, the embossed finish, and the cord around the neck with an attached booklet/tag are typical of the deluxe editions produced by Douglas Laing between 1985 and 1995.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: Structured and deep, characterized by rich notes of sherry, raisins, prunes, dark chocolate, aged oak, vanilla, and a delicate touch of leather and beeswax.
Palate: Full-bodied, dense, and velvety. Flavors dominated by dried figs, nutmeg, toffee, sweet wood spices, and a return of toasted malt. Finish: Extremely long, warm, and persistent, with hints of wood and lightly spiced dried fruit.
