A powerful message telling us that wars must stop in the world here depicted by an iconic figure of pop culture, the Stormtrooper.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Lyssandre Saint York,
Designer and artist born in the 1970s.
My artistic work sits at the crossroads of two worlds that fascinate me: the raw energy of street art and the visual impact of pop art.

I grew up amid the rise of the “seventies” style and Space Age design, a disruptive era where furniture rejected prewar sobriety to dare organic shapes, plastic, and vibrant colors.
Aided by this bold aesthetic, I naturally began in design and fashion, conceiving and selling concepts around the world for more than 30 years to today.

This mastery of structure and visual impact later unfolds in my artistic creations. My journey as an artist began with play, composing my first works in Lego bricks under frame. This artistic approach allowed me to revisit the great icons of pop culture. From Star Wars heroes to indispensable figures like Mario Bros, Mickey, or the emblematic Scrooge McDuck, mixing symbols of the world’s luxury brands with these Lego characters, icons of a whole generation!
I have always loved appropriating these symbols to give them a new dimension.

This work naturally extended to creating sculptures with the rebellious graffiti environment of Banksy, or iconic Art Toy characters. By subverting these sculptures and these emblematic figures, I play with contrasts to question our desires and our consumer society.

This conceptual rigor dialogues with the absolute freedom of urban culture. Marker, spray, stencil, paint, drips and textured overlays, but also with techniques other than those I marry to the chromatic power of pop art.

My works have thus become a visual collision where 70s anti-conformist design and luxury meet the spontaneous subversive energy of the street. By juxtaposing and reimagining these collective and cult icons with a graphic and instinctive aesthetic, I offer a reading that is nostalgically dual-edged, impactful, and resolutely contemporary, addressing societal themes and minimalist conceptual illustration.
