Antique Napoleon III period oil lamp from France (Paris) with a gilded brass mount and an ivory porcelain reservoir decorated with a winged putto, a blown glass chimney, and measuring 36 cm high by 16 cm wide (depth 20 cm) and about 1 kg; in good used condition with minor aging patina and a crack in the gallery, but fully working.
Description from the seller
Lamp from the second half of the 19th century, very likely Napoléon III taste, with a ceramic/porcelain reservoir decorated with a putto (winged cherub) in the middle of a vegetal setting.
Plump reservoir in glazed ceramic, ivory-colored, with a brown monochrome decoration representing a winged cherub and floral scrolls.
Brass mount, quite ornate: rows of beads, moldings, a pierced gallery and neo-Rococo motifs.
Wick burner with its side knob, typical of oil lamps from this period.
Large blown/molded glass chimney, flared in shape.
36 cm x 16 cm, cream, brown drawing.
Slight oxidation and a greenish patina around the burner gallery and light wear at the base of the foot, crack in the gallery (these defects are barely visible to the naked eye).
Does not detract from the beauty of the object.
Very good overall condition, extremely rare!!
