Original 1/1 mixed media artwork by Lyssandre Saint York titled BREAK THE RULES, WIN A ROLEX, a minimalist concept featuring a Lego-style figure on a black wooden frame measuring 28 by 23 by 4 cm.
Description from the seller
- Title of the work: BREAK THE RULE, WIN A ROLEX
A minimal conceptual work under a societal theme that reminds us that sometimes you have to break the rules to achieve a specific goal... Here this illustration, entirely imagined and hand-created, by the artist L.SAINT YORK takes us into a game everyone knows: MORPION (Tic-Tac-Toe) ... Align three crosses to win the Rolex!!!
BREAK THE RULES WIN A ROLEX (Break and transgress the rules to win a Rolex).
Here represented by a Lego-style character, a 'street kid' of urban art (that is the concept) which simultaneously evokes a subject of social revolt or a symbol of freedom that embodies a raw, unformatted spirit. He appropriates public space outside the adults' rules.
- Artistic realization: by Lyssandre Saint York
- Year / 2026
- Limited edition sold - 1/1 UNIT
- Certificate of authenticity: Yes + numbered on the back and on the matte board
+ security label with signature capsule in the artist's name L.Saint York, inside the frame on the scale in mirrored acrylic glass.
- Support: Display frame 28x23x4 cm in black wood with molding.
The frame includes a protective glass to protect the illustration
which is in the white matte.
* An original work with a Lego-style minifigure "Street Child" on a ladder with a paint roller, playing Tic-Tac-Toe to line up three crosses whatever happens...
A validation of alignment is made by a red line to confirm that he is indeed the lucky winner of the Rolex. And for that he breaks the rules by cheating and checking the last X of Rolex to align these 3 crosses and win his prize.
* Mixed media: Posca marker, gold leaf, Lego minifigure, roller + dripping paint,
brown ladder, gold signature capsule in mirrored acrylic glass...
An illustration entirely imagined and hand-conceived with Posca marker by the artist
and which remains his exclusive property (reproduction prohibited).
* Regarding the complete work, and the placement of the Lego character...
It is fixed directly on the glass to achieve a 3D effect with the illustration.
Only the quotation and the Tic-Tac-Toe illustration "BREAK THE RULES, WIN A ROLEX"
are protected by the glass. The frame being a display case shape, the Lego character is outside the glass but with enough space so that it is not outside the frame.

BIOGRAPHY OF THE ARTIST
Lyssandre Saint York,
Designer and artist born in the 1970s.
My artistic work sits at the crossroads of two worlds that fascinate me: the raw energy of street art and the visual effectiveness of pop art.
I grew up amid the rise of the 'seventies' style and Space Age design, a rupture era where furniture rejected pre-war sobriety to dare organic forms, plastic, and vibrant colors.
Raised by this bold aesthetics, I naturally first carved a path in design and fashion, creating and selling concepts worldwide for more than 30 years up to today.
This mastery of structure and visual impact then unfolds in my artistic creations. My journey as an artist began with the game prism, composing my first works in Lego bricks under a frame. This artistic approach allowed me to revisit major pop culture icons. From Star Wars heroes to iconic figures like Mario Bros, Mickey, or the emblematic Scrooge McDuck, by mixing symbols of luxury brands with these Lego characters, an icon of an entire generation!
I have always loved taking ownership of these symbols to give them a new dimension.
This work naturally extended to creating sculptures with the rebel graffiti of Banksy or emblematic characters of Art Toy.
By deflecting these sculptures and iconic figures, I play with contrasts to question our desires and our consumer society.
This conceptual rigor dialogues with the absolute freedom of urban culture.
Marker, spray, stencil, paint, drips and textured overlays, but also with other techniques that I marry to the chromatic power of pop art.
My works have thus become a visual collision where the anticonformism of 70s design and luxury meet the subversive spontaneity of the street.
By juxtaposing and reinventing these collective and cult icons with an aesthetic that is graphic and instinctive, I offer a reading that is simultaneously nostalgic, double-meaning, impactful, and decidedly contemporary, addressing societal themes and minimalist conceptual illustration.
From Paris to New York, via Taiwan or even Australia, my works travel the world thanks to you, and I thank you for it.
