Anton Dirckx
Anton Dirckx was born in 1878 in Rotterdam and pursued his art education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rotterdam. After his studies he undertook an inspiring study trip to Italy, which resulted in several paintings of Italian cities and landscapes, including impressive works of Venice. During his career Dirckx lived and worked in various Dutch cities, including Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Dordrecht and in the surroundings of The Hague (including Voorburg), where he died in 1927 at the age of 48. Dirckx was a member of the prestigious Amsterdam artists' society Arti et Amicitiae. He also maintained a close friendship and worked closely with fellow artist Adriaan de la Rivière
