Art Deco wooden wall console / wall table – figured wood – ca. 1920–1940

A particularly atmospheric wooden wall console from the first half of the 20th century, executed with a warm golden-brown wooden figure and fine architectural details. The broad top plate, the rectangular back panel, and the two striking curved consoles give the piece a powerful, almost architectural look.

Especially the woodwork stands out. The central back panel features a strongly figured flame and wolff-like grain pattern, while the consoles and the frame show a clearer linear wood texture. The profiled edges of the top and the stepped, elaborated ends of the consoles add extra depth and refinement.

In terms of design, the piece aligns well with Dutch wall consoles from the Art Deco period and the 1920s–1930s, in which oak wood, geometric lines, profiled edges, and sturdy wooden consoles were widely used. Comparable Dutch examples are offered as Art Deco or Amsterdam School-related wall consoles from circa 1920–1930.

The furniture is intended to be mounted directly on the wall and forms a beautiful base for, for example, a sculpture, clock, vase, candelabras or other decorative objects. Such wall consoles were historically used as a compact presentation surface without having to place a free-standing table in the room.

Condition

Good used vintage condition with age- and wear-related marks appropriate to the age.

There are some dark spots on the top where the screws sit and minor signs of use, clearly visible in the close-up photo. Additionally, there are locally light scratches, small irregularities and normal wear to the finish. The wood has a nice warm patina and the decorative moldings and consoles present well.
