Frans Vervloet (Mechelen, January 20, 1795 – Venice, 1872) was a Belgian painter, remembered mainly as a landscape painter.
Biography
His father, Frans Vervloet I, was also a painter, professor at the Academy of Mechelen; it was he who taught the basics of art to his sons. In 1832 he goes to Venice, remaining fascinated by it; Venice and Naples will remain for his whole life the cities he loves most. He travels a lot and depicts in his works, in addition to Venice and Naples, Palermo, Livorno, Constantinople, Gaeta, and various areas of Apulia. In 1861 he finally settles in Venice where he will die at the age of 77.
