Magnificent, rare set of 10 original, hand-colored prints of game birds and waterfowl in large format 30.5 x 24 cm. These plates come from the scarce and sought-after first edition of Beverly R. Morris – British Game Birds and Wildfowl (London, Groombridge and Sons, 1855). The detailed illustrations were designed and engraved by the famous master printer Benjamin Fawcett (1808–1893). The base is a refined wood engraving, which is then masterfully hand-colored. As this is the very first edition, the prints are of the highest quality and considerably larger in size than the later reprints.
All in good condition, slightly discolored, some spots (see photos). Small bump and/or dog-eared corner.
