Fernando Martínez Checa (Requena, Valencia, 1858 - Baeza, Jaén 1933) - Sierra de Cazorla, Andalusia.

Signed and located in the lower corners.

Fernando Martínez Checa (Requena (Valencia), 1858- Baeza (Jaén) 1933) was a Spanish painter and professor.

Full professor of drawing at the secondary institutes in Huelva, where he remained until 1907.
In Baeza he founded in 1909 the School of Arts and Industries of Requena, intended for the instruction of workers.

Specializing in oil painting and watercolor of flower vases and landscapes, at the Provincial Museum of Huelva one of his works is on display: Floating Baths in the Huelva estuary (1897).
Other works by him are found at the Museum of Fine Arts of Córdoba, where a wash drawing on paper entitled The Hermitages of Córdoba is preserved, and at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando (Fuente en el camino, oil, with dedication to the Marchioness of Majeras, 1884).
