Description from the seller
RETRATO #140
Series: The 1000 Faces
Technique: Acrylic on canvas
Year: 2026
Original and unique work
In Portrait #140 I build a female figure with an elongated neck and serene presence, mixing the depiction of the face with elements of geometric abstraction. I divide the face into pink and cream planes, framed by black hair and petrol blue that extend the verticality of the composition.
I work from a neocubist and hard-edge language, using defined contours and large color fields. I contrast an almond-shaped eye with another depicted as a black circle and a small red circle. With this asymmetry I explore different ways of representing the gaze and I introduce a touch of strangeness within a recognizable figure.
The yellow earrings, red lips, and the fan-like shape that emerges behind the head add rhythm and brightness. I balance these warm accents with the bluish tones of the background and the clothing, while the curved bands of the neck connect the facial shapes with the body.
I seek the work to convey a mix of calm, firmness, and mystery. I am interested in leaving the interpretation of the character open and allowing each viewer to find a different emotion in its gaze.
This work is part of my series The 1000 Faces, a project consisting of one thousand original, numbered and irreproducible portraits. In each painting I explore a different identity through geometric fragmentation, color, and the simplification of forms.
To ensure safe transport, I ship the canvas carefully protected and rolled inside a sturdy tube. The work is delivered unstretched.

ARTISTIC SERIES: THE 1000 FACES
The 1000 Faces is my developing art project, conceived as a set of one thousand original portraits, numbered and completely distinct from each other. Through this series I explore human identity and the multiple ways a face can express character, emotions, experiences, and inner states.
I build each character through a particular combination of lines, geometric shapes, and color relationships. Although I maintain a recognizable visual language across the collection, I develop for each face its own composition, personality, and chromatic balance. No two paintings are the same within the series.
With the fragmentation of the face I do not intend to hide the identity, but to show it from different perspectives. I use color planes to explore the facets that can coexist within the same person: strength and fragility, serenity and tension, reality and imagination.
My goal is for each work to function independently and, at the same time, be part of a much larger universe. When the series is complete, the thousand portraits will form a large visual archive dedicated to diversity, individuality, and the complexity of the human being.
With Portrait #140 I continue this search, exploring how a gaze can become a geometric sign without losing its expressive power. This painting occupies a unique place in the journey, and I will not reproduce it as another original work of the series.
