Lorenzo Brancati di Lauria’s Prima edizione - Opuscula tria De Deo - Roma, published in 1687 in Latin by Eredi di Francesco Corbelletti, bound in parchment, 250 pages.
Description from the seller
Rarest first original edition (1687) of the famous and profound theological treatise focused on the complex doctrinal questions of predestination, reprobation, and present grace. The work was written by the eminent Franciscan theologian and librarian of the Vatican Apostolic Library, Cardinal Lorenzo Brancati di Lauria, in opposition to the Lassite and heterodox drift of the era. Printed in Rome by the renowned workshop of the Eredi Corbelletti, the volume boasts absolute commercial rarity: there are no historical auction records on the platform, and the only other copy available on the international market presents very serious structural damage. The lot stands out for its authenticity and a conservative freshness of a superior level. Binding (External Conditions): Good. Splendid and solid fully intact full contemporary parchment binding, structurally sound, compact and firmly joined. The spine with raised bands bears the ancient handwritten title partially faded. It presents the natural, sober, and fascinating patina of time that certifies its absolute genuineness, free from breaks, material losses, or modern restorations. Interior in good condition with some haloing but in good condition for its age. • Format: 4to (In-quarto) • Total pages of the volume: The volume consists of a total of 16 initial unnumbered pages followed by 671 numbered pages, plus 1 final unnumbered page.
