Complete six-volume set in uniform period binding, with a spine bearing the title Legal Medicine and gilt-titled tomes.
Second edition, entirely revised and increased by two-thirds, of this important French treatise on legal medicine from the early 19th century.
The work deals notably with forensic medicine, hygiene and public health, poisonings, diseases, mortality, madness, suicide, marriage, pregnancy and childbirth, infanticide, injuries, examination of corpses, and various medico-legal questions related to the Empire's legislation.
Volume I is illustrated with a portrait engraved of François-Emmanuel Fodéré and contains fold-out plates. Volume VI ends with an important general table of contents.

Vol. I: LXXXIV + 502 p.; Vol. II: 492 p.; Vol. III: 483 p.; Vol. IV: 526 p.; Vol. V: 502 p.; Vol. VI: 606 p.
Condition: a homogeneous set of more than 210 years old. Bindings showing signs of wear and some rubbing.
