Beautiful and rare decorative set of three large old colorized panoramic views of La Rochelle (Charente-Maritime), dedicated to the famous Old Port, its maritime activity and the historic city.
These three views form a particularly coherent and evocative set of the French Atlantic coast maritime heritage.
They reproduce old photographic views hand-colored, in the spirit of the great postcards and polychrome prints of the early 20th century.
The first two compositions offer superb panoramas of the port of La Rochelle, then bustling with a multitude of sailing ships, working boats and steamships.
Here you can see the quays, the historical entrance to the port and the famous towers of La Rochelle, emblems of the maritime city.
One of the views notably preserves the old caption “LA ROCHELLE – SORTIE DU PORT”, while another bears the mention “LA ROCHELLE – Vue générale…”.
The third work remarkably completes the ensemble with a panoramic view of the old city, with its tangle of roofs, its streets, its towers and its historic architecture.
