Description from the seller
An authentic, turn-of-the-century Polish School oil painting on canvas capturing an intimate domestic interior (intymizm), highly characteristic of the celebrated Młoda Polska (Young Poland) or early interwar artistic movements.
The composition depicts a quiet, sunlit foyer or antechamber. Natural light filters through a large window, beautifully illuminating a plush red armchair with a matching footstool, creating a warm, ambient, and nostalgic atmospheric texture.
Signature & Markings
* Front: Signed in the lower right corner with the artist's monogram initials, "m.s."
* Reverse (Stretcher): Features the original handwritten title in graphite script: "Przedpokój" (Polish for Antechamber / Foyer / Hallway).
* Provenance Stamp: Retains an authentic, historic DESA (Dzieła Sztuki i Antyki) state inventory stamp on the wood stretcher bar, featuring handwritten evaluation registration number 6555 enclosed in a semi-oval ink frame.
Condition Report
Presented in excellent vintage condition.
