Description from the seller
Chandelier – Italy, the 1970s – Brass and smoked glass
A magnificent example of the great Italian design of the second half of the twentieth century, this important chandelier expresses in an extraordinary way that sophisticated Space Age and Mid-Century Modern aesthetic that made Italian lighting famous in the Sixties and Seventies. It hosts as many as 8 bulbs for light distributed at 360°.
It is precisely this particular construction that makes the chandelier so fascinating: when viewed frontally, the numerous glass panels create a kind of transparent architecture, almost a small luminous sculpture suspended in space. The satin oval discs, rhythmically arranged on the plates, interrupt the transparency of the glass and become protagonists when the numerous light sources are switched on.
The warm light indeed passes through the smoked glass, multiplies on the transparent surfaces, and produces an intricate play of reflections, overlays, and golden glows. The effect is especially dramatic in the dark or in a softly lit setting, where the chandelier takes on almost the appearance of a precious luminous installation.
Creates a beautiful light.
