Description from the seller
Vintage Japanese Hōmongi silk kimono – floral motifs – vermilion red and black – Japan
Magnificent vintage Japanese Hōmongi (訪問着) silk kimono, in an elegant vermilion red shade, adorned with delicate multicolored floral motifs.
The design is especially refined: numerous Japanese flowers and plants are harmoniously distributed on the sleeves, shoulders, and lower part of the kimono. The hem features a beautiful gradient from red to black, creating an elegant contrast with the ivory, green, pale blue, and gold-toned floral motifs.
The Hōmongi is a semi-formal traditional women's kimono worn for ceremonies, receptions, and other elegant occasions.
The traditional Japanese support threads (shitsuke-ito / しつけ糸) are still present, indicating a kimono that has been worn very little, if at all.
The interior is fully lined in a light shade.
Material: silk
Origin: Japan
Estimated period: Showa era, probably around 1960–1980
Condition: excellent vintage condition – the shitsuke-ito still present.
Dimensions:
Mi-Take (length): 158 cm
Yuki-Take (shoulder + sleeve): 64.5 cm
Sode-Take (sleeve length): 48.5 cm
Sode-Haba (sleeve width): 32.5 cm
Mae-Haba (front width): 25 cm
Ushiro-Haba (back width): 30 cm
A very beautiful piece of Japanese textile, ideal to wear with an obi, as an elegant dress-style garment, or as a collectible and decorative piece.
