FIRST EDITION The work collects and selects important academic and scientific dissertations on medicine, physics, anatomy and surgery discussed at various European universities and academies. It constitutes a fundamental testimony to the scientific and medical progress of the eighteenth century, offering a view of anatomical and surgical knowledge before the modern scientific revolution. Albrecht von Haller (1708–1777), anatomist, physiologist and botanist.
Ten frontespieces, the first in two colors preceded by the half-title, each with an engraved portrait of the author. Numerous headers, tailpieces and initial capitals finely engraved. 42 anatomical plates not in the text, folded several times. Double ex libris applied to every flyleaf. Generally bearing foxing, often light; some leaves browned in the text. Nevertheless, a specimen in good conservation condition. Complete, rare and usable.
