Description from the seller
Oil on canvas - Rural countryside landscape animated by a cart - Late 19th / Early 20th century
Beautiful oil on canvas work representing a bucolic countryside landscape from the end of the 19th century.
The composition opens with a winding dirt road guiding the eye toward the background, where a traditional cart in motion can be discerned. The foreground is marked by earthy tones and wild vegetation, contrasting with the softness of a green meadow on the left. In the distance, a range of mountains takes shape under a changing sky, perfectly capturing the serene atmosphere and the light of the European rural scene of the era.
The work shows a fine mastery of perspective and a textured painterly touch, characteristic of naturalist or landscape currents of this period (British School).
