Artist's Biography:

Guillem Fresquet Bardina was a prominent Catalan painter and draftsman of the 20th century. He was born in 1914 in the Poble Nou district of Barcelona and died in 1991 in Tarragona.

He studied at the School of Arts and Trades of Barcelona (Escola de la Llotja), where his teachers included Lluís Muntané, Soler Puig and Francesc Labarta. During the 1930s he participated in local exhibitions, such as those at Casal Icària in Poble Nou (1934) and the Unió Gremial de Sant Martí de Provençals (1935).

He debuted in 1945 at the Sala Velasco in Barcelona and exhibited in Spanish cities, as well as in Mexico, Canada and France. His works are in museums such as the Museu d'Art Modern de la Diputació de Barcelona and the Tarragona Museum, in addition to private collections. In 1973, the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre commissioned him to produce views of Spanish cities for postage stamps.

Specialized in watercolor, though he worked in various techniques, he is considered one of the most important Catalan watercolorists of the 20th century. Author of the book Cómo pintar a la acuarela. He won the First Medal three times from l'Agrupació d'Aquarel·listes de Catalunya and the First Prize of the Montblanc Biennial.
