La Tentation de saint Antoine, 2010–2020, acrylic painting, France, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
Replica after the triptych by Bosch
(reduced from the original (Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium))
made with a custom frame crafted by our workshops
supplied with its display stand
5 painted panels:
Open: Scenes from The Temptation of Saint Anthony. Closed, left wing: The Arrest of Christ; right wing: The Carrying of the Cross
open format 118 x 73 cm
closed format 60 x 73 cm
Jerome Bosch, Flemish Primitive (1450-1516)
This Bosch triptych is the first in a long series that would mark his life as an artist. It shows a multitude of jests, to the point that the main figure disappears in a crowd of secondary figures.
Hieronymus Bosch here takes up the theme of Saint Anthony, very fashionable in the Middle Ages and whose influence shaped art history up to the modern era (for example with Dalí’s The Temptation of Saint Anthony).
