This painting presents a wide Mediterranean beach where several fishing boats rest on the sand facing a sea of intense blues and turquoise tones. The scene combines the serenity of the grounded vessels with the monumental force of the cliff that closes the bay. Above the landscape stretches a sky covered by large clouds, creating a changing atmosphere in which coastal brightness and the proximity of a possible storm coexist.

In the foreground appear two boats that immediately draw the eye. The boat on the left is shown facing forward and has a white hull decorated with blue stripes. Its interior is partially visible and allows the planks of wood, a small rod or vertical element, and various objects related to navigation to be distinguished.

The frontal arrangement of this first boat reinforces the sense of proximity. Its bow points toward the viewer and seems to rest firmly on supports placed in the sand. The blue outlines accompany the shape of the hull and establish a direct connection with the colors of the water a few meters away.

To the right is a larger vessel, presented in profile and occupying a good portion of the lower area. Its white hull is traced by dark green lines that emphasize its length and curvature. The word “Mediterrani” visible on the side reinforces the maritime and coastal identity of the entire scene.

The mast of this boat rises vertically toward the sky and becomes one of the most prominent elements of the composition. At its top a small reddish flag flutters, whose hue provides a warm accent against the blues, whites, and grays dominating. Cables descend from the mast and draw fine diagonals across the landscape.

Inside the boat one can distinguish planks, oars, ropes, and different working objects. A reddish-brown net falls over one of its sides and provides a direct reference to fishing activity. The vessel is not presented as a decorative object, but as a tool used and marked by the daily life of those who work by the sea.

Around the two main boats there are other smaller vessels distributed along the beach. Some are partially hidden and others appear near the base of the cliff. This succession of hulls, masts, and colors creates the sensation of a fishing cove where the boats have been brought ashore after a day at sea.

The sand occupies the central area with ochre, beige, yellow, and brown tones. Its open surface creates a luminous separation between the boats and the water. The dark shadows cast under the boats provide depth and allow perceiving the intensity of the light partially passing through the clouds.

The sea extends from the center to the horizon in a wide range of blues. Near the shore there are turquoise and greenish tones, while the more distant areas acquire deep and dark colors. This chromatic variation conveys the transparency of coastal waters and the increasing depth of the bay.

The line of the shore forms a smooth curve that visually leads from the foreground to the great cliff. A pale band of foam separates the sand from the water and suggests the slow movement of small waves. The sea seems calm, although the sky introduces some tension and hints that conditions could change.

The cliff constitutes the main natural element of the scene. Its large rocky mass rises along the coast with abrupt and irregular shapes. The tones of black, brown, gray, ochre, and yellowish reveal different volumes and cracks, giving a robust and monumental appearance.

The base of the cliff intrudes slightly into the water and forms a point that protects part of the beach. The lower rocks receive light and contrast with the much darker upper areas. This play of light and shadow accentuates the relief structure and adds depth to the landscape.

The sky occupies almost the upper half of the composition and is dominated by large white and gray clouds. Some appear intensely lit, while others acquire deep tones suggesting rain or storm. Among them gaps of a clear and luminous blue open, creating an atmosphere full of movement.

The relationship between the sky and the sea is especially important. The blues of the water seem to collect the clarity of the clearer areas, while the shadows of the clouds darken some sectors of the bay. This union makes the entire landscape seem to be within a brief and changing moment, situated between calm and the imminence of weather change.

The composition offers a marked contrast between human and natural forms. The boats represent maritime life, work, and tradition, while the cliff, the sky, and the sea express the force of the environment. However, none of these elements dominates the others completely, and all participate in a visual balance full of harmony.

The absence of people intensifies the sense of pause. The vessels seem to wait silently on the sand, perhaps before a new departure or after returning from the sea. This silence allows imagining the fishermen's voices, the sound of the ropes, the rubbing of the nets, and the waves approaching the shore slowly.

The scene can also be interpreted as a tribute to Mediterranean fishing tradition. The grounded boats, the nets, and the oars recall a way of life closely linked to the cycles of the sea.
