Figura mitologica, a circular monochrome mixed-media artwork from the 1930–1940 period created in Europe, sold with a frame.

AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Mixed technique
Mythological figure
European school
Era: 20th century
The painting is a circular monochrome depicting a female figure seated on a classical chair of the Klismos type. The woman wears a peplos in classical taste and in her raised left hand she holds a rolled parchment, while the other hand rests on a large globe (mappamondo). The work represents an allegory linked to Wisdom, Geometry, or the mythological figure of a Muse (such as Urania).
Executed in monochrome tones of brown and bistre on a paper support, the style closely recalls Italian academic Neoclassicism.
The work is presented within a slim wooden border and is mounted on a circular plywood support with a hanger on the back, ready to be hung.
It shows light and normal signs of age on the painted surface, consistent with the period, which do not compromise its decorative aesthetics (see detailed photographic gallery).
Provenance: purchased by me at a premier Italian auction.
Tracked shipment by courier.
