This is an original plein air painting by Romanian artist Maria Postea, painted in Saint-Jovite, Quebec, Canada. Titled "Water Reflection in Saint-Jovite", the work was created in 2025 and completed outdoors over four days, with the landscape observed directly and the changing natural light captured throughout the painting process.
Painted in acrylic on canvas board, the work depicts a small fragment of a river, focusing on the reflections, colors and vegetation of the surrounding landscape. The spontaneous plein air approach allows the painting to retain the immediacy of direct observation and the subtle variations of natural light.

About the Artist
Maria Postea is a Romanian artist and publisher who co-founded Editura Intaglio Publishing House with her partner and fellow artist, Bogdan Gargarita. Since 2010, she has worked as an illustrator of art books and fairy tales, developing extensive experience in watercolor and acrylic painting. Her work has been exhibited in Romania and internationally, and she has received both national and international awards.
Maria frequently paints en plein air while travelling, drawing inspiration from natural landscapes and paying particular attention to water, rocks, vegetation and changing light. She enjoys the immediacy of working outdoors and the challenge of capturing a particular color, reflection or atmospheric effect before the light changes.
