Marcel Emmanuel Moisand (1874-1903) was a French painter, watercolorist and engraver born in Nogent-sur-Marne. Trained at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris under the direction of architect Constant Moyaux, he quickly developed a precise and elegant academic style. His artistic production focuses mainly on hunting scenes, highly detailed animal portraits (notably hunting dogs) and seascapes. Regularly exhibited in Parisian salons, his ink washes, oils and etchings attracted keen interest from art lovers of the time. His promising career was abruptly cut short by his premature death at the age of 28 in Nice. Today, his works remain in private collections and public institutions, such as the Musée des Beaux-Arts d’Angers.
