Description from the seller

TIME SPAN — Corné Nuham

TIME SPAN belongs to FOUR HEADS, a sculptural collection in which Corné Nuham returns to one of the fundamental elements of his artistic language: the construction of form through four directions emerging from a common core.
The collection draws on ideas that have accompanied the artist since the beginning of his practice — orientation, multiplicity, balance and the relationship between the individual and the universe — while incorporating a more recent dialogue with architecture and Brutalism.

In Time Span, this exploration takes on an emphatically horizontal form.
Built entirely by hand from welded iron, the sculpture develops between two structural supports. From them, fragments, rods and industrial forms accumulate, collide and expand towards a central space that remains deliberately open.
The work seems caught between two opposing forces: compression and expansion.
Its dense construction contrasts with the void beneath it. What at first appears heavy and almost architectural gradually reveals movement, instability and multiple possible readings. As the viewpoint changes, elements overlap, disappear and re-emerge, continually transforming the silhouette of the sculpture.
Light becomes part of this transformation. Passing through the openings between the welded elements, it projects changing shadows and extends the work beyond its physical limits.
Corné Nuham leaves the welding process visible. Welds, irregularities, marks and variations in the surface are not concealed; they form part of the identity of the sculpture and reveal the direct relationship between the artist, the material and the act of construction.

Each element has been individually cut, shaped and welded by the artist in his studio.
Unique piece. Handmade and individually finished by Corné Nuham.
The sculpture will be carefully and securely packaged and will be accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity.
