Bronze Buddhist altar sculpture, titled “Buddhistischer Buddha-Schrein mit zahlreichen Buddhafiguren – Bronze – 27 cm – 1.668 g”, with a central seated Buddha on a tall throne and numerous companion Buddhas, dimensions 27 x 12 x 13 cm and weight about 1,668 g, dating to the 20th century, from a private collection, in good condition and authentic.
Description from the seller
For sale is this exceptional and highly detailed bronze Buddhist altar sculpture.
In the center there is a large seated Buddha figure on a richly designed throne-like structure. Around the main figure are numerous other small seated and standing Buddha figures arranged. Several figures are located within pointed, leaf-shaped frames reminiscent of Bodhi leaves or flame-like aureoles.
The entire back wall is elaborately adorned with Buddhist depictions, small niche figures, leaf and flame motifs, and other ornamental elements. The back side is also fully worked out and bears numerous Buddha figures and relief scenes – the sculpture is thus not only frontally decorated.
The central Buddha figure sits on a high throne and displays an raised hand gesture. Due to the multitude of smaller Buddha depictions, the object appears as a compact Buddhist home shrine or altar shrine.
Dimensions & weight:
Height: approx. 27 cm
Width: approx. 12 cm
Depth: approx. 13 cm
Weight: approx. 1,668 g

The base is closed or filled with a light mass, as can be seen in the photos.
Please note the numerous detail photos as part of the condition description.
No precise dating or art-historical attribution has been made.
