Description from the seller
We present to you this pastel work, an abstract composition, by the artist Jean Orange (1958-2025), a French painter.

Artist: Jean Orange (1958 2025)
Title: Abstraction
Format: 31 x 27.5 cm
Technique: Pastel on paper
Biography of the artist: Jean Orange was born in 1958 and died in 2025 in Honfleur, where he lived and worked for more than 35 years. A former student of the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris and the Académie de Port-Royal, he began his career as an illustrator for a renowned weekly, Le Monde. Returning to Honfleur, he rubbed shoulders with great Honfleur painters such as Herbo, Leterreux, or Hambourg, and developed a personal oeuvre free from the rules of academic realism, alternating group and solo exhibitions in salons and galleries renowned in France and internationally, notably in South Korea. Mastering all techniques—oil, acrylic, watercolor, and pastel—he is also recognized for his distinctive knife- and roller-brush stroke, before turning, as here, to pure abstraction and vigorous colors. He passed away in 2025 after battling illness, leaving a rich and singular body of work praised by his peers and the city of Honfleur.
