Very rare edition of this famous book by Francesco Birago (1562-1640), Milanese writer and author of several fortunate works on the doctrine of chivalry, to which is joined the Guarini treatise on honor and peace.
Chivalric advice of Mr. Francesco Birago, in which the method of making peace is discussed. With a chivalric apology for Sir Torquato Tasso and some Opinions on matters of honor and peace by Sir Alessandro Guarini..., In Ferrara, & in Parma, Giuseppe dall'Oglio, & Ippolito Rosati, 1686.

Exemplar with pages in overall good condition, with small wormhole galleries at the margins on several pages. Usual signs of use and time.
Contemporary binding in full parchment, well preserved. White endpapers.
Important provenance: the handwritten ex-libris of the private library, now extinct, of the eighteenth-century Piedmontese abbot Giambattista Filippi is present.
