Pair of cast brass candlesticks from France, dating to 1850–1900, each about 12.5 cm high with a 6 × 4.5 cm base, weighing 160 g each (320 g for the pair), finished in gilded brass with a turned pedestal and cylindrical candle holder, in good condition with patina and minor signs of age.
Description from the seller
Originally paired candlesticks of poured brass, with a classical and symmetrical design, with a turned pedestal with a stylized profile, a cylindrical holder for the candle and a rectangular, step-shaped base with rounded corners. Treated with an aged gold finish, with natural patina, surface oxidation and signs of use. France, late 19th century.
Due to their classical aesthetics, typology and decorative character, they can be attributed to the taste of the Grand Tour, although it is not possible to establish a specific provenance solely on the basis of the photos. The construction from poured brass and the sober decoration are characteristics of decorative objects made according to classical models.
