On this square format, Medsan places a young woman sitting alone before a sky-blue flat color that stops in a square with irregular edges and leaves the surrounding area bare and light. She sports a black bob with straight bangs and raises her arm above her head, the hand falling back into her hair; the other arm is folded, the fist pressed under her chin, fingers against her cheek. Her gaze looks straight at us, eyebrows slightly lowered, mouth closed.
A white blouse, loosely opened at the collar, slides over the shoulder, streaked with blue and orange reflections. A dark skirt with blue-tinged pleats occupies the lower part of the frame, one knee raised in front of her. The warm light catches the top of the arm, the neck, and the back of the hand, while the cool blue returns in the hollows of the fabric. Medsan and Popsan are two signatures of a single artist. Under the name Medsan, he explores the realms of medicine and anatomy; under the name Popsan, he revisits icons of popular culture by blending pop art, Japanese art, and anachronisms. On Catawiki, his pop works still appear under the name Medsan, but they belong to the Popsan universe. He creates at the Atelier Joconde, a family artists’ workshop, alongside Le Yack (figurative painting) and Neo Pablo (abstraction).
