Description from the seller

LIMITED EDITION - NUMBERED 20

In this square format, Medsan places a young woman alone against a deep brown background that darkens to black in the corners. She holds against her ear a large, pointed, pale and luminous shell, whose radiance climbs up onto her fingers and along the side of her face. Her eyes are lowered, mouth closed, head tilted toward the shoulder: she is listening. Her black hair is pulled up into a high bun, pierced by a long amber hairpin ending in a small ball.

A dark green kimono slips from her right shoulder, left bare; the edges and the hem tilt toward a warm gold, and the sleeves feature a pattern of concentric waves and thin golden stripes. The rest of the torso dissolves into shadow, only ivory skin and the red lip respond to the shell’s light. A suspended moment, where all the world’s noise rests in a single hand.

A contemplative piece, ideal for bringing a touch of calm and depth to a collector’s interior devoted to portraits.
