Description from the seller
LIMITED EDITION - NUMBERED TO 20
On this square format, Medsan places a young woman alone in the shadows, standing facing the viewer, a large bowl held with both hands against her. She tilts her head, eyelids lowered, eyes fixed on the water she carries; her forehead, cheek, and red lips receive the single bright light of the scene, which rises from the bowl itself. Her black hair is pulled up, a few strands loose along the temples.
The green-blue kimono opens widely at the chest and falls in deep pleats over the forearms; small golden floral motifs run along the sleeves and down the collar. In the bowl, an orange-red koi swims on the water’s surface, fins spread, a fine beard on each side of its mouth; the clear water brightens the hollow of the bowl and the fingers that hold it. All around, the dark brown background reveals nothing else. A scene of silent attentive focus, held with both hands.
A collected and intimate piece, ideal for adding a touch of deep calm to an interior of a collector fond of Asia.
