MEDSAN - Floating Cherry Blossom (宙に浮く桜) - LIMITED EDITION

LIMITED EDITION - NUMBERED TO 20

In this square format, Medsan isolates a flowering cherry tree alone in the sky. The trunk starts at the bottom of the frame, dark and veined with red, twists to the left, straightens, then opens into branches that bear a crown occupying almost the entire upper half. To the right, a few branches remain bare and stretch into the void; elsewhere, the wood disappears beneath a mass of flowers ranging from very pale pink to vivid pink, with hollows almost raspberry where the shadow passes.

The background is a bright turquoise blue at the top, lightening as it descends toward a bank of white clouds spread across the bottom of the frame. The tree floats above, with no ground or roots. Isolated petals drift across the sky, some still against the flowers, others far away, right up to the edges. A suspended spring, unseen by anyone.

A soft and luminous piece, ideal for bringing a touch of Japanese spring to a contemporary collector’s interior attached to landscapes.

About Medsan / Popsan :
Medsan and Popsan are two signatures of a single artist. Under the name Medsan, he explores the world of medicine and anatomy; under the name Popsan, he revisits icons of popular culture by blending pop art, Japanese art and anachronisms. On Catawiki, his pop works still appear under the name Medsan, but they belong to the Popsan universe. He creates within Atelier Joconde, a family of artists’ workshop, alongside the artists Le Yack (figurative painting) and Neo Pablo (abstraction).
