MEDSAN - Sonic at Mount Fuji (富士山のソニック) - UNIQUE WORK

THERE IS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1

In this square format, Medsan places Sonic the Hedgehog at the wheel of a black convertible parked along a Japanese bay. The Sega character, bright blue with spiky quills, is leaning on the driver's door, a white glove resting on the edge, the other hand on the wheel; he turns his head toward us with a half-smile, calmly serene. The car, its top down, shows its silver Carrera lettering along the lower side and its five-spoke wheels; it is parked on the light forecourt of a gas station, whose white canopy with a red trim occupies the right side of the frame, with a vertical red sign bearing white characters 富士.

Behind it, Mount Fuji, snow-capped, rises against a huge red disk, in a bright blue sky sprinkled with small cream-colored clouds. On the left, tall palm trees line the shimmering water where a white sailboat glides, the city stretching at the foot of the hills. A sunlit stopover scene, between coast and mountain.

A solar piece and immediately legible, ideal to bring a pop, Japan-influenced touch to a contemporary interior of a collector attached to video game icons.

About Medsan / Popsan:
Medsan and Popsan are two signatures of a single artist. Under the name Medsan, he explores the world of medicine and anatomy; under the name Popsan, he revisits icons of popular culture by blending pop art, Japanese art, and anachronisms. On Catawiki, his pop works still appear under the name Medsan, but they belong to the Popsan universe. He creates at Atelier Joconde, a family-run artists’ studio, alongside artists Le Yack (figurative painting) and Neo Pablo (abstraction).
