MEDSAN - Totoro in the Lantern Forest (ランタンの森のトトロ) - UNIQUE WORK

THERE IS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1

In this square format, Medsan places Totoro, the great forest spirit from My Neighbor Totoro, seated at the center of a night undergrowth. He holds above his head a wide green leaf as an umbrella, its shaft gripped in his right paw, his round eyes wide open, his whiskers spread on either side of his snout and his cream belly striped with dark chevrons.
Behind him, the trunks rise in deep blue and turquoise, and beads of small golden lights descend between the branches like suspended rain. At his feet, a floor of dark green foliage borders a blue pond lit by bright reflections. A pale pink lotus flower opens on each side of him, two orange flowers occupy the upper corners, and all around runs a border of gold lines curled into flourishes. At the bottom center, the cartouche メドサン. A scene of tranquil vigil, in a forest that holds its breath.

A contemplative piece, ideal for bringing a touch of the Ghibli universe to the interior of a collector devoted to Japanese culture.

About Medsan / Popsan :
Medsan and Popsan are two signatures of a single artist. Under the name Medsan, he explores the world of medicine and anatomy; under the name Popsan, he revisits icons of popular culture by mixing pop art, Japanese art and anachronisms. On Catawiki, his pop works still appear under the name Medsan, but they belong to the Popsan universe. He creates at the Atelier Joconde, a family art studio, alongside the artists Le Yack (figurative painting) and Neo Pablo (abstraction).
