MEDSAN - Thousand Sunny in Monte-Carlo (モンテカルロのサウザンドサニー号) - UNIQUE WORK

THERE IS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1

In this square format, Medsan brings the Thousand Sunny, the Straw Hat Pirates' ship from One Piece, into the Monte-Carlo harbor. The sailing yacht moves toward the foreground, its yellow figurehead ringed with orange rays turned toward us, its mouth open; the white mainsail bears the skull with the straw hat and the two crossed bones, two small black pennants flap at the tops of the masts, and a red 1 sits at the stern of the burgundy hull.
Behind it, the casino façade is lit: dusky-green domes, a clock, amber windows, the fountain and its red flowerbeds, the palm trees, the black limousines stopped along the roundabout, the striped awnings of a terrace on the right and, higher up on the hill, the towers whose windows light up one by one. The sky shifts from pink to the blue of night, with a few stars, and the sea, almost black, reflects long golden trails. A manga ship docking where the yachts moor.

A marine and nocturnal piece, ideal to bring a pop touch to the interior of a collector attached to grand adventure narratives.

About Medsan / Popsan:
Medsan and Popsan are two signatures of a single artist. Under the name Medsan, he explores the world of medicine and anatomy; under the name Popsan, he revisits pop culture icons by blending pop art, Japanese art, and anachronisms. On Catawiki, his pop works still appear under the name Medsan, but they belong to the Popsan universe. He creates within Atelier Joconde, a family artist workshop, alongside the artists Le Yack (figurative painting) and Neo Pablo (abstraction).
